FAQs

We thought it would be useful to put together a list of some of the more commonly asked questions. If your question isn't answered here then do contact us with any queries you have.

  • What is the Service Fee?

All of our bookings are subject to a £40 (inc. VAT) Service Fee in respect of the services we provide. This will be charged at the time you make your booking.

  • When & how do I pay for my holiday?

To secure your booking you’ll need to pay a 30% deposit unless your holiday start date is within 8 weeks from when you make your reservation and then the full balance is required.

The balance payment is due 8 weeks before the start date of your holiday.

We accept all major credit and debit cards and you can pay securely online through our website or over the telephone.

  • What are Accidental Damage Deposit Waivers and Accidental Damage Deposits?

All of our guests are required to pay either an accidental damage deposit or an accidental damage deposit waiver, you can choose which option you would prefer during the booking process.

    Accidental Damage Deposit:

If you choose this option the sum of £300 will be added to the total payable for your booking. This sum will be held by us in lieu of any unintended accidental damages that occur at the property during your stay. This will be payable and collected with your balance funds. Once our housekeeping team has confirmed that all was acceptable following your departure we will return this sum to you within 28 days. If there are deductions to be made in respect of any unintended accidental damage then we will advise you of these and return the/any balancing amount to you. If any unintended accidental damage created during your stay exceeds this sum then you will be liable to pay any additional amounts due.

    The Accidental Damage Deposit Waiver:

If you choose this option then the sum of £35 will be added to the total payable for your booking. This is a non-refundable payment. You have complete peace of mind that Porthleven & Lizard Holidays will bear the costs of any unintended accidental damage created during your stay up to the total amount of the accidental damage deposit. If any unintended accidental damage created during your stay exceeds this sum then you will be liable to pay any additional amounts due.

Please see our booking terms and conditions for further details.

  • What is the Cancellation Protection Fund?

Sometimes unexpected things happen and we’ll always try to help you. This is why we have the cancellation fund in place. The sum of 4% of rental rate will be added to the total cost of your booking. We will normally, but at our sole discretion, refund up to the cottage holiday rental you are liable to pay, less the booking fee and a handling charge of £50 for all genuine listed reasons in our terms and conditions.

In all other cases, if we are able to re-let all or part of the period booked then we will, at our sole discretion, consider a refund, less any shortfall in cost of the re-let booking, less the booking fee and less a handling charge of £50.

Please see our booking terms and conditions for further details.

  • Can I check out later than 10am or check in earlier than 4pm?

Your holiday home will be ready for you at 4pm on the day of your arrival and we request that you have checked out by 10am on your departure day, leaving the key in its collection place. It is important that we do adhere to these times to allow the housekeeping staff sufficient time to maintain our high standards of cleanliness and repair. We are only able to alter arrival or departure times in exceptional circumstances.

  • How do I access my holiday home?

Two weeks prior to your arrival date (assuming your balance payment has been made in cleared funds) we’ll email the travel and arrival instructions for your holiday home. All of our properties benefit from a keysafe and the code for this will be contained in the travel and arrival instructions.
